Who is Karma Raines?
Karma's mission in life is to lead women, especially women of color, through their body freedom journey by spreading the healing gifts of dance and movement worldwide.
At the age of 3, Karma told her family when she grew up she was going to be a “television and a radio”. Not only did this young girl have a vast imagination, she had a vision for her future. Years later, without any formal or technical training, Karma found her place in dance. She learned how to mimic the movements of some of the greatest dances of all time and create a signature style of movement all her own. Once she transitioned into the dance community her training expanded as well as her gift of movement.
In the last decade Karma has graced the stages of international music festivals, music videos and created “Sensuality by Karma” it is a Total Body Positivity experience. Through the power of movement, Karma brings her electric energy to empower women. Karma creates a safe container for all to take part in this transformational space. Karma trains non professional dancers, retired dancers and those who simply need a creative safe space to explore their body acceptance. Welcoming in the BIPOC and LGBTQA+ communities to embrace their bodies; no matter the size, shape or age.
Karma's Sensuality workshops and classes are a truly life changing experience. They are rooted in the power of movement, Karma brings her magical energy to life in this safe space. So you might say it's the power of Karma that makes these experiences so profound. This space was created to provide safety for women especially women of color. To claim back their body autonomy is an act of rebellion. Karma ensures that you a loud and proud about taking that stand. With no judgment or criticism, you are given a chance to break through areas in your body and use the gift of dance to heal those in need.
Karma Raines is a Professional Choreographer, Creative Movement Coach and Body Freedom Advocate. She works with artists creatively to develop content for Film, TV, Music Videos, Print Ads and Live Performances. Karma was the choreographer and lead dancer on the 2019 International “Rouge” Tour with sensational R&B/Pop star, Yuna. Karma created the choreography for Yuna’s “Forevermore” video; which thousands of Yuna fans created duets for on Social Media. During the Rouge tour, Karma performed at Tyler the Creator’s “Camp Flog Gnaw” in Los Angeles and the Good Vibes Festival in Malaysia to an audience of over 20,000 guests.
Karma has worked with: Disney Films and Nike; and she’s been featured on: Basketball Wives (VH1), ABC News, The Real (Fox) and continues to be a Creative Consultant and Lead Choreographer for performing artists Yuna, NYLO and Taylor aka “The Pocket Queen” - who recently released the music video for “We Came to Move”.
Karma has an electric energy that she brings to every space where she is blessed to share her gifts. She stands on the belief that movement can heal the soul, mend emotional wounds and create Total Body Freedom. By providing the tools to those who feel silenced by their own “Body Barriers”, Karma creates spaces for Women to start actively living their lives and reclaiming their power.
